Dessie’s Tyres celebrates 40 years in business

Dessie’s Tyres in Cork is celebrating 40 years in business in 2026 with the official start date of the business recorded as May 1986 on the Watercourse Road in Cork.

Dessie’s celebrated the milestone in style with a dinner for family and friends in the Metropole Hotel hosted by Bridgestone. The evening featured Cork Comedian Pat Fitzpatrick in character as “Reggie from the Blackrock Road”.

Bridgestone Ireland presented Eoin Desmond with a painting of the Cork skyline by Helen Condon at Dessie’s Tyres 40 year celebrations.

Dessie’s Tyres now operates four tyre centres at Little Island, Carrigaline, Togher and Blackpool with a wide range of tyres, specialising in the premium end of the market.

Eoin Desmond, the founder and proprietor of Dessie’s Tyres said: “I’m indebted to the many people who helped me and supported me, at the start, and along the way. We have always focused on giving the customer what they want including opening hours suited to their busy lives.”

Building the Dessie’s Tyres brand name over the last 40 years has been a standout feature of the business with strong associations to Red FM and Cork’s 96 FM.

Innovative sponsorships like the Cork traffic radio reports from “Wayne in the Plane and Dessie’s Tyres” helped to get its name out across the city.

“We want to congratulate Eoin on an amazing journey, building a very professional and successful business, providing a first class service to his customers,” said Colm Conyngham, marketing and public relations manager, Bridgestone Ireland. “We wish Eoin and all the staff at Dessie’s Tyres every success in the future.”
