Armagh biker spurs Rossi to a win?!

Valentino Rossi enjoyed what he described as one of the best wins of his career last weekend in Assen, The Netherlands – his first victory since the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2010. Just prior to the race, he had met up with Armagh motorcyclist, David Hoy, winner of the Bridgestone ‘Mission Rossi’ tyre sales competition. “Valentino was such a nice, genuine, gentleman. I’m not sure if it was a case of the luck of the Irish when he won, but I wished him all the best and told him I’d be cheering for him!” Hoy says.

David beat thousands of bikers across Europe to win Bridgestone’s ‘Mission Rossi’ tyre sales competition and flew out to Assen to meet nine-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi.  He said that meeting the legend beforehand was a dream come true.  “It was unbelievable and something that I have never experienced before or will ever experience again. I can’t describe what it was like to meet a living legend and someone who I’ve watched for so many years. I must say a massive thank you to all at Bridgestone who made this meeting possible and for a great weekend.”

David, aged 46, won the money-can’t-buy experience after purchasing a set of Battlax Sport Touring T30 tyres from his local tyre provider, G M Tyres, after which he was automatically entered into the Mission Rossi giveaway.

G M Tyres centre manager Philip Headley accompanied David on his adventure, and Bridgestone’s tyre sales manager Andrew Whitehead said, “We couldn’t have chosen a better winner had we tried. It was a pleasure to see David enjoying the experience so much. It makes the whole competition worthwhile.”
