Yokohama breaks ground for new tyre plant in Mexico

Yokohama Rubber recently held a groundbreaking ceremony ahead of the start of construction of its new passenger car tyre plant in Coahuila, Mexico.

Once operational, the new Mexico plant will have an annual production capacity of five million tyres.

Yokohama says it will also consider expanding the plant’s capacity in the future.

Construction of the 610,000 square metre site will begin in the coming weeks, with production scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2027.

Yokohama states that this new plant will increase its tyre production capacity in North America, enabling the company to meet an expected increase in future demand in the region.
