Michelin to launch World’s largest tractor tyre online

Michelin is preparing to launch the world’s largest tractor tyre on next Tuesday 22 October in a live webcast available to watch worldwide.

ad7d8d04224eeb24_800x800ar2As a global leader in radial agricultural tyres, Michelin has developed the world’s first 900mm wide and 2.32m tall tyre in conjunction with New Holland, SAME Deutz-Fahr and Krone.

The online webcast will allow the farming and engineering communities to learn about the IF900/65 R 46 AxioBib, and ask questions about the new tyre to Michelin’s Emmanuel Ladent, President Strategic Business Unit – Agricultural Tyre, and Jean-Paul Gauthier, Director of Agricultural Tyre Research and Development.

The new fitment, which features Michelin’s patented Ultraflex technology, has a load capacity of 10,600 kg per tyre and is designed for tractors driven at speeds of up to 65km/h.

Mike Lawton, Commercial Director of Michelin’s Agricultural tyre division in the UK and Ireland, says: “Last year we launched our largest ever tractor tyre which was 2.15m in diameter, and this year we are excited to be extending the AxioBib range even further, to include the world’s biggest agricultural tyre. Farmers are increasingly facing the problem of needing to produce more, whilst protecting their soil more effectively and we are confident this new rubber will help them achieve this.

“Michelin has worked closely with machinery manufacturers to understand exactly what requirements are needed from this tyre and we are pleased to be able to share the future of farm equipment in such an exciting way. We’d urge anyone interested in finding out more about the tyre to log on to the webcast and take the opportunity to ask questions to those leading the way in developing the next generation of farm equipment.”

Joining Michelin for the webcast will be Neil Payne, New Holland’s Marketing Manager for high-horsepower tractors, Alessandro Plebani, SAME DEUTZ-FAHR’s R&D High Range Developing Specialist and Heinrich Wingels, Marketing Director at Krone. They will each aim to share all the latest news and views on farm machinery from their respective companies.
