Kumho Tyre sharpens CV focus with a fleet-first approach

Kumho Tyre is reinforcing its commitment to the commercial vehicle sector by placing real-world fleet performance at the heart of its growing truck tyre offering. Rather than simply expanding its range, the brand is focusing on how advanced tyre design can support fleets facing rising operational costs, efficiency pressures and sustainability targets.

Built to perform across the demanding roads, duty cycles and weather conditions, Kumho’s latest CV tyres are engineered to deliver consistent wear, dependable grip and improved fuel efficiency, helping operators achieve better value over the full life of the tyre.

Central to this approach is a trio of tyres designed to work together across the vehicle: the KXA31 for all-position fitment, the KXD31 for drive axle applications, and the KXT31 for trailers. Together, they provide a cohesive solution for fleets seeking performance balance, durability and cost control without compromise.

Designed around day-to-day fleet realities
The KXA31 all-position tyre has been developed to deliver predictable handling and stability throughout its service life. Kumho’s RevealiX groove technology improves water evacuation as the tyre wears, while interlocking 3D sipes help maintain tread rigidity for even wear and consistent load distribution. TWB2 (Tread Wear Balanced Bridge) technology further supports casing longevity by reducing irregular wear and minimising stone retention.

For drive axle applications, the KXD31 prioritises traction and efficiency. Its directional tread design supports rolling resistance optimisation, while wide tread blocks and dual tie bars enhance stability under torque. Noise-reducing groove fences help improve in-cab comfort, an increasingly important consideration for fleets focused on driver wellbeing and retention.

Completing the line-up, the KXT31 trailer tyre is engineered for high-load and long-distance use. A zig-zag groove pattern improves grip and crack resistance, while stone ejectors and variable-width sipes extend casing life and enhance braking performance in winter conditions. A solid shoulder rib provides added stability at motorway speeds, making it particularly well suited to articulated and mega trailer operations.

Efficiency, longevity and lower operating costs
Across the range, Kumho’s advanced compound technology plays a key role in reducing rolling resistance, supporting lower fuel consumption and helping fleets cut emissions without sacrificing durability. For operators focused on total cost of ownership, this combination of efficiency and extended wear life is a critical factor in tyre selection.

The CV portfolio covers rim sizes from 17.5- to 22.5-inch, supporting a wide variety of rigid, articulated and trailer applications. Key sizes include 315/80R22.5, 295/80R22.5, 385/65R22.5 and 445/65R22.5, ensuring coverage for the majority of fleet requirements.

Building momentum
Commenting on Kumho’s direction in the sector, Richard Lyons, UK and Ireland managing director of Kumho Tyre, said: “Fleet operators are under more pressure than ever to improve efficiency while keeping vehicles safe and reliable on the road. Our focus has been on developing CV tyres that perform consistently in real operating conditions and deliver genuine value over their lifespan.

“We’re seeing growing confidence in Kumho from [UK and Ireland fleets] as our technology and product quality become better understood. That shift in perception is important to us, and we’re committed to continuing our investment in tread and compound innovation to support the evolving needs of the truck and bus market.”
