Kumho Tire enters autonomous driving MoU

Kumho Tire has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SUM (Smart YoUr Mobility) in South Korea to advance smart tyre and autonomous driving technologies.

Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate on the integration of smart tyre and autonomous driving technologies for medium- and large-sized, as well as heavy-duty special vehicles.

Kumho Tire also plans to directly apply the wear and dynamic load measurement technologies of its smart tyre system to vehicle control systems such as braking in heavy-duty special vehicles, thereby enhancing operational safety and efficiency.

Youngjin Kim, executive vice president and head of R&D at Kumho Tire said: “We expect to further advance our essential smart tyre technology for the autonomous driving era.

“We will focus our capabilities on developing technologies that lead mobility innovation and strengthen our competitiveness in the future market.”
