Infinity tyres perform in British Drift Championship

The fourth round of the British Drift Championship descended on Lydden Hill Race Circuit in Kent in August with a lot riding on the outcome. With both Infinity Tyres sponsored  drivers sitting pretty in the Championship standings it was essential to put in a good performance. With nearly 100 cars competing, the challenge would be tough, but the Acorn Motorsports Division team relished the task ahead.

Following extremely testing qualifying weather conditions Ian Waddington squeezed into qualification in 16th place and meant he was up against Max Marshall in the Verticle Trix BMW E30 who qualified first. Ian drove superbly on the Infinity INF-05 tyres and managed to hold off Marshall’s challenge, albeit with a badly damaged door following a late braking line taken by the BMW E30!
In the Top 8 Ian faced Lewis Cracknell who had qualified third and was driving extremely well. In a very tight affair Lewis just edged the battle, so it was a Top 8 finish for Ian Waddington – a great result and the title challenge is still well and truly on. Interestingly, Lewis Cracknell also runs only on Infinity Tyres INF-05 as he finds them the most consistent tyre he has ever tried.
As 15th qualifier in the Pro Class, Mark Lappage was up against the highly rated Brian Egan in the iconic Corolla AE86. Following a very close affair, Mark took the win meaning another AMD car in the ‘Great 8’ round. Mark then went against Paul Cheshire in the Team Falken G35 machine. Both drivers were on each other’s door, but Paul took the win with Mark being edged out on the last exit.
Two ‘Top 8’ finishes is a huge success for Infinity Tyres and builds on the success of Round 3. The Championship is poised for a fantastic finale at Knockhill, Scotland at the end of September with Mark Lappage in third position in the Pro Class and Ian Waddington just outside a Top 3 position in the Semi Pro series. Scott Brandon, AMD Team Principle, commented “The whole team, drivers included, did a truly fantastic job in very difficult conditions. The season so far has been a revelation and we should all together be very proud of our results. That said, the job is far from complete and we go to Knockhill at the end of September determined to get the results required. As always we are thankful for the support of our partners, and without Infinity Tyres, we would not be where we are today”.
