Continental OE on new Renault Twingo E-Tech
Renault’s new Twingo E-Tech electric will be fitted with original equipment tyres from Continental as standard worldwide.
The latest generation of the all-electric compact car is rolling off the production line equipped exclusively with the 18-inch Continental EcoContact 7 (205/45 R18 90H XL FR).

The 18-inch tyre has earned top ratings on the EU tyre label for energy efficiency and rolling noise. It therefore meets key requirements that manufacturers place on tyres for electric vehicles today: low rolling resistance to help maximise driving range and low rolling noise for a quieter, more pleasant driving experience.
The EcoContact 7’s high energy efficiency is due to a new rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology. This technology uses new materials in the tyre’s carcass, liner and sidewall to reduce internal friction and lower rolling resistance.
Additionally, the tyre’s aerodynamically optimised sidewall design enhances efficiency. Continental has combined several technologies to achieve this, including the “Aerodimple” structure borrowed from golf balls. Dimples in the sidewall reduce air turbulence behind the tyre, meaning the vehicle requires less energy to keep the tire moving.
Continental has also focused on quiet driving, with the newly developed Silent Pattern tread design reducing rolling noise. Developers optimised the spacing and angles of the tread blocks to align with the noise frequencies typically generated at low speeds when driving in urban areas. As a result, the tyre contributes to a quieter ride – for vehicle occupants and local residents.
