Acorn Infinity Motorsport secures first place

The Acorn Infinity Motorsport team celebrated a first place podium finish during the latest round of the 2013 British Drift Championship held at Middlesbrough’s Teesside Autodrome, with Mark Lappage beating a strong field of 47 drivers in tough humid conditions.

With two drivers (Mark Lappage and Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni) now racing in the ultimate ‘Super Professional’ class, the A.I.M. team is up against the very best level of competition. The standard of drifting in 2013 has also risen further with significant investment in car development putting even greater demands on the performance of the tyres.Infinity2

Mark Lappage was racing against some of the U.K.’s top drifters but finally came through in the final against Mark Huxley in his V8 Volvo. Despite suffering from gearbox problems all weekend, Baggsy defeated reigning champion Paul Smith, followed by Shane Lynch before finally being edged out by his teammate in an all-Infinity duel.

Mark Lappage said that: “Without the support of Infinity Tyres this victory would not have been possible. In the extreme heat the tyres performed superbly. The team have come a long way in a short space of time and to be on top of the podium after just over a year shows the strength of the team internally and rewards the faith that Infinity has shown in us. With two rounds still to go, we will be pushing for more points and a charge up the leader board”.

Mr. Tom Edwards, European Marketing Manager for Infinity Tyres, added that: “It’s great that the team managed a first place podium finish in only its first season at ‘Super Pro’ level. Mark drove the car superbly in such hot conditions and has also given the team a great boost going into the final two rounds”.
