Pirelli Carrier lasts longer and reduces fuel costs
The Carrier tyre range has been developed by Pirelli specifically for the van market and has been tried and tested by a selection of fleet drivers in a variety of situations.
The range includes the Carrier Winter, which is ideal for the cold, wet months as the tread pattern provides optimum grip, and therefore safety in tougher condition and the Carrier Summer tyre for the months when temperatures are above seven degrees centigrade.
The final tyre in the range is the Carrier All Season, a tyre that works equally well throughout the year, with selected sizes benefiting from Pirelli’s ‘Seal Inside’ technology. An innovative safety system against punctures which automatically seals up the hole in the event of a puncture caused by an object up to 4mm in diameter, meaning that journeys can continue without loss of tyre pressure. The tyre also carries the snowflake symbol on the sidewall signifying it’s suitable for winter use in markets where legislation requires drivers to change to winter-specific rubber.
The Carrier family of tyres are available in a variety of sizes covering 14, 15 and 16-inch fitments.
A high-technology tyre developed specifically for vans, the Pirelli Carrier tyre was revealed by Pirelli in 2014 following 1.8 million miles of testing conducted with some of Europe’s leading fleets. The Carrier guarantees a long tyre life with decreased fuel consumption thanks to a reduction in rolling resistance, better performance in the wet and increased comfort compared to previous-generation tyres.
With the Carrier, Pirelli expanded its range of commercial products, transferring the technology that has been developed for Ultra High Performance tyres through to the commercial vehicle sector. The Carrier was created using state-of-the-art design criteria, utilised successfully on Pirelli’s headlining products such as the P Zero and Cinturato P7, but with increased emphasis on two key factors for the van market: safety and total life costs.
The Carrier van tyre was conceived at the Italian firm’s research and development centre in Milan, representing the very heart of Pirelli technology, where the company’s famous Formula One tyres are also created.
