John Banks Tyres aids Cork Search & Rescue
John Banks Tyres Ltd, has stepped up to the plate to aid Cork Search & Rescue. to provide a complete set of new Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres for the volunteer organisation’s Nissan Patrol vehicle.
John Banks, director from John Banks Tyres, said: “Since Cork Search & Rescue was formed in 2013 it has helped to reduce the number of incidents around the River Lee. To do this it means its vehicles must be properly equipped to tackle quite harsh terrain. Having the right tyres on a car or SUV makes all the difference. We teamed up with Pirelli to ensure that come rain or shine Cork Search & Rescue will continue to provide a unique and valuable service.”
Martin O’ Halloran, business development manager from Pirelli, said: “Cork Search & Rescue provide a vital community service and as a voluntary group they go above and beyond. We are delighted to donate a set of tyres from our Scorpion range to such a good cause. These tyres, like the organisation, are extremely versatile and have excellent off-road capabilities.”
The estimated running costs for Cork Search and Rescue annually are in the region of €50,000.
Louis Hyde from Cork Search & Rescue, said: “A new set of tyres makes a significant impact to our entire operation. We are all volunteers here, so the maintenance of our vehicles can prove to be very costly. We rely on charitable donations to keep going. Thankfully this kind gesture allows us to continue the patrols safe in the knowledge that we are now more than equipped.”
