Bridgestone sets out new targets under five-year plan
Yesterday in Tokyo, Bridgestone issued an outline of the group’s mid-term management plan for 2017 which will cover five years from 2018 to 2022. It aims towards a goal of achieving leadership in each industry in which it competes.

Updated to reflect changes in the operating environment since last year, the latest plan will serve as a process guide for Bridgestone in optimising its management structures and strategic activities, according to their announcement yesterday.
It also plans to accelerate the pace of its management reforms with a continuing focus on their three priority goals.
It wishes to consistently deliver growth exceeding the industry average; return on asset (ROA) of 6 per cent; operating profit (OP) of 10 per cent and return on equity (ROE) 12 per cent; and by each strategic business unit (SBU) operating profit of 10 per cent.
In the 2017 medium term plan, the Bridgestone Group continues its focus on the three subjects that have been its priority since the 2013MTP: (1) Cultivating global corporate culture, (2) Developing human resources capable of global management, and (3) Upgrading the global management structure.
The Bridgestone Corporation advance brand strategy includes becoming an Olympic TOP partner, various select paralympic partnerships, Team Bridgestone, and activities for Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

Good Design Award wins 2017
The Good Design Award 2017 also yielded two wins for Bridgestone.

The first was the BattleCruise H50 tyres, which was designed specially for big-displacement American cruisers motorbikes. It promises long life, smooth hsndling and comfortable ride as the key features that H50 offers. The rear tyre can claim a long life as much as 2.7 times of our predecessor product.
Its handling capabilities allow even bikes of nearly 300kg to turn smoothly at both low and high speeds, minimizing fall-in characteristics in turns. By reducing the transmissions of vibration of V-Twins, it provides a comfortable ride. With the BattleCruise H50, they want you to savor the laid-back cruising of the V-Twin.
The second Good Design Award 2017 win was for the bikke POLAR e, an electric assist bicycle to ride with children which developed lower frame, smaller 20 inch tyres and new child seat. It was designed to meet both demand from child’s safety and comfortableness and driver’s stable riding and usability.
This bicycle has stylish body design and various colors. Optional color parts can enjoy original coordinates only for your families.
Finally, Bridgestone Corporation points to its ongoing contribution to the creation of a sustainable society. Last March, it formulated a CSR structure “Our Way to Serve”, and in July, it was named to two new ESG indexes.
