Update on investigation into anti-dumping duties on Chinese tyres

An announcement on the  European Union investigation into anti-dumping duties on Chinese, passenger car, light truck, bus and truck tyres is expected on Tuesday 23rd December, TyreTrade.ie has been informed.

Meanwhile, the Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) has confirmed that a decision on anti-subsidies is expected by the middle of next year.

In an interview with TyreTrade.ie  CEO, Sue O’Neill confirmed. “A decision is expected by mid 2026, and if dumping and injury are confirmed, additional duties could be introduced to further protect the EU tyre industry.”

She continued: “The ITIA will be keeping a close eye on these developments, ensuring members stay up to date on any potential impacts on imports, pricing, and trade defence measures. We remain committed to supporting the industry through these evolving trade regulations.”

I n May 2025, the European Commission launched an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese passenger car and light truck tyres, sparking widespread concern across global trade networks.

According to the Commission’s official announcement, the investigation targets tyres under EU CN codes 4011 10 00 and 4011 20 10, following complaints from European tyre manufacturers alleging that “low-priced Chinese imports” are damaging domestic industries.
