UK hauliers get tyre disposal advice
The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) in Britain is urging haulage operators to ensure that their waste truck tyres are disposed of responsibly.
VOSA says that large quantities of tyres are being illegally dumped each year in the UK, by unscrupulous and rogue collectors, resulting in huge clean up bills for UK taxpayers and landowners.
Haulage operators and tyre retailers must be certain that they know their collector operates within the law or they could become complicit in any waste tyre crimes.
Hauliers and tyre retailers have been advised to check if their collector is a member of the Responsible Recycler Scheme and that they have the necessary authorisation and permits from the Environment Agency to be collecting and storing tyres.
