TyreCall visits Ascenso’s India factory

In February, members of the TyreCall team (Niall Murray, managing director; John Clarke, director; Sean Cusack, general manager; and Cormac Brady, area manager), together with representatives from Ascenso UK (John Parker, business consultant and Neil Ford, OE2/training consultant), made a trip to India to explore the Ascenso manufacturing facility and offices located in Bharuch and Mumbai.

Spanning approximately one kilometre in length and half a kilometre in width, the expansive Ascenso factory site boasts its own power station and is positioned on the outskirts of Bharuch, Gujarat.

During their visit, the delegation witnessed the unveiling and testing of several important new products in the realms of earthmover, port, and forestry tyres, along with the introduction of Ascenso’s extended range of VF tyres. Additionally, they had the opportunity to inspect the newly inaugurated mould-making section of the factory, a significant development that commenced operations in 2022.

Unlike many competitors who outsource tyre mould production, often to China, which entails lengthy design and transport times, Ascenso prides itself on its in-house mould design and manufacturing capability, significantly accelerating its product expansion endeavours.

Niall Murray, MD of TyreCall commented: “The levels of growth over the past three years has been incredible and the factory was truly the most advanced tyre plant I have ever been to, having the personal luxury of going to several other leading manufacturers tyre plants over a number a decades.

“Ascenso’s comprehensive testing and product development efforts are arguably among the industry’s best. Ascenso’s openness to our feedback regarding new sizes and designs, coupled with their substantial investments in tyre technology, affirm our choice to collaborate with them. We’ve definitely made the right decision.”

Ascenso has now established two warehouses, each spanning 10,000 square metres, for stockholding and is in the process of adding a third.

The team from TyreCall and Ascenso UK also had the opportunity to meet with Ascenso’s leadership team, including CEO Yogesh Mahansaria, deputy CEO Dhaval Nanavati, chief technology officer Praveen Soral, head of plant operations Ashok Bhukhmaria, head of marketing and product management Atul Khandagale, mould rim factory manager Gnana Munisamy, among other members of the now over 700-strong Ascenso team.

TyreCall tells us that Ascenso displayed a significant openness to feedback, eagerly inviting insights from the Irish market, reflecting its commitment to adapt and enhance its tyre offerings based on dealer and customer feedback.

Now distributing in over 92 countries, Ascenso is on the verge of expanding its product range to encompass 620 different codes across all categories of off-road tyres.
