Tyre dealers to bring Dublin city to a standstill

Dublin city centre will be brought to a standstill on Thursday, December 8, when between 50 and 60 tyre dealers from all over Ireland bring their vans and trucks to Dublin to mount a major protest at Dail Eireann, orgainised by the Independent Tyre Wholesalers and Retailers Association (ITWRA).

The trucks and vans will circle Leinster House on Thursday morning as members of the ITWRA supported by many individual members of the Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) to vent their anger at Government proposals to impose a levy on new tyres which would see motorists over €3 extra per tyre while juggernaut owners and farmers will pay even more under this new stealth tax.

The tyre industry has warned that the proposed levy will damage business, result in a loss of jobs in the industry across the country and pose a devastating threat to the environment.

What: Major demonstration by the Independent Tyre Wholesalers and Retailers Association (ITWRA) and many members of the Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA).

Where: Dail Eireann, Leinster House, Kildare Street, Dublin 2

When: Thursday, December 8th, from 11am
