RL Automotive launches TyreWatch

RL Automotive has just launched the TyreWatch system which monitors a fleet’s tyres for pressure and temperature 24/7 and in real time.

Tyrewatch-1-copy-2

The package consists of sensors inserted inside each wheel rim, a display screen in the cab and a GPS transmitter that transmits real time information via the mobile telephone network.

The driver is able to see the tyre pressures and temperatures, which are uploaded to the web so they can be monitored by any device that has an internet connection.

The importance of this is that the system automatically send alerts by email for slow punctures and high temperatures, which may be due to a braking problem, so the problem can be rectified before a blow-out occurs.

The system is specifically designed for logistics operations and works for both tractors and trailers.

TyreWatch eliminates the need to regularly manually check pressures. The system is designed to minimise vehicle downtime to make sure delivery windows are met.

Keeping tyres at the correct pressure by constant monitoring will save 1-2 % on fuel and extend tyre life by 4-5%.

The system pays for itself from day one but most importantly it will virtually eliminate tyre-related roadside breakdowns.

Find out more about TyreWatch at RL Automotive’s stand at the CV Show in Birmin, April 14-16.
