Pirelli exclusive tyre supplier to MSA British GT Championship

Next year’s MSA British GT Championship will be exclusively supplied by Pirelli and the teams and drivers are already focusing on the coming season.

The position of the 2015 Teams’ Championship-winning Barwell Motorsport squad is slightly different to its rivals. Rather than learning how to get the maximum from the Pirelli tyres, the team will be learning how to get the most from its new GT car.

“It’ll be an interesting year for us as we’ll be swapping car manufacturer as well,” said managing director Mark Lemmer. “We were using BMW Z4 GT3s but we’re taking delivery at the end of the year of three Lamborghini Huracan GT3s.”

Barwell have experience of running Pirelli tyres as it has competed in the Blancpain Endurance Series for the past three years. “That means we have a pretty good knowledge of the Pirelli tyre,” said Lemmer. “So we can apply what we’ve learnt about the tyres to the new car. The British circuits will add an extra dimension, for example Donington Park is low grip compared to the European circuits.
