Nokian halts car tyre production in Finland

Nokian Tyres is adjusting production at its passenger car tyre factory in Nokia, Finland “for at least two weeks”.

The tyre maker cites the “ongoing political strikes affecting ports and transportation in Finland” as the reason for this decision, adding that this has led to its “inventories of tyres filling up, as the company is unable to deliver tyres to its customers”.

As a result, Nokian is to temporarily lay off 350 employees at the Nokia plant “for a maximum period of 90 days”.

Nokian adds that production of heavy duty tyres will “continue in Nokia as normal”.
