New managing director at Vintage Tyres

Vintage Tyres, the world’s largest supplier of original-equipment tyres for enthusiast vehicles, has appointed a new managing director.

Ben Field, who joined the company last June, takes over from longstanding MD, Chris Marchant.
Ben, who has 25 years’ experience in the classic vehicle industry as a restorer, road tester and journalist, brings a great depth of market knowledge to the role.

Chris Marchant brought Vintage Tyres to its base at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, Hampshire in 1991. While maintaining a strong relationship with Dunlop (whose vintage and classic range Vintage Tyres started selling exclusively back in 1962), Chris forged new ties with Avon, Michelin and a dozen more leading manufacturers.

Chris masterminded the reintroduction of more than 30 historic tread patterns, and introduced the company’s own crossply tyre ranges, Ensign and Waymaster. Vintage Tyres will still benefit from Chris’s vast experience, rather than taking full retirement, he will become technical director.
Ben said, ‘I’m really excited to be taking on this role, and I look forward to building on the successes created by Chris, and the excellent Vintage Tyres’ team.’
