New industrial tyre from Goodyear
Goodyear is launching a new radial tyre for industrial applications. The Goodyear EV-4C, which offers a high level of stability and low cost per hour, was unveiled at the Bauma 2013 construction vehicles and equipment exhibition in Munich, Germany, on Monday.
The Goodyear EV-4C is designed to be used mainly on straddle carriers, which are used in most ports around the world. The tyre features an innovative CAD-designed tread, which reduces lug-induced vibration resulting in excellent operator comfort and even tread wear. The nylon sidewall reinforcement reduces the risk of impact damage, which can cause expensive machine down-time. Further enhancements come from the breakers and carcass, which are stronger for greater stability and productivity. Thanks to the tread design this tyre delivers high levels of traction and braking performance in wet conditions. The massive tread depth ensures extended tyre life thus improving the tyres’ cost per hour. This tyre is tubeless and is available in sizes 16.00R25 and 480/95R25.
“The robustness of this tyre, as well as its greater stability and productivity, will make it very attractive to operators,” said Octavian Velcan, Managing Director of Goodyear OTR Tyres in EMEA. “Handling containers, particularly when loading or unloading ships, often involves very tight schedules. Speed and reliability are the two most important factors in container handling. This tyre helps deliver both of those.”
The EV-4C is the latest addition to the comprehensive range of Goodyear tyres available for port and industrial applications. The radial EV range comprises six designs to cover container handling as well as other uses. These tyres have been developed in particular to handle heavy loads and provide excellent stability, while offering long tread life and low cost per hour thanks to the special tread compounds used.
