Natural rubber first for Apollo Vredestein

Apollo Vredestein has produced the first tyres in Europe to be manufactured with natural rubber.

The 155/65 R14 Quatrac Lite tyre were manufactured using rubber made from the Russian dandelion and guayule plant.

Apollo has been involved in research into sources of natural rubber as a partner in the EU-PEARLS project, which focuses on research into two particular plants, the Russian dandelion and the desert plant guayule.

The project aims to make it possible to produce natural rubber in Europe by finding suitable conditions for the growth of these plants, optimizing the yield and quality of the natural rubber, and designing the ideal extraction methods.
