Michelin CEO frontrunner to become Renault boss

Current Michelin CEO, Jean-Dominique Senard is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Carlos Ghosn as head of Renault, according to a report from Bloomberg.

According to the report, Senard has passed one of the tests required for the job; backing from the French government.

Senard, 65, has been at the helm of the French tyremaker for seven years helping boost profits, something Renault’s biggest shareholder – the French government – admires.

If appointed, Senard could temporarily hold both the CEO and chairman positions until Renault holds a shareholder meeting, the report adds.

Carlos Ghosn currently remains in detention in Japan, having recently been denied bail.
