Maxxis Premitra 5 HP5 tops summer tyre test

The Maxxis high-performance summer tyre, the Premitra 5 HP5, has been confirmed as the winner of the Vi Bilägare Summer Tyre Test 2021.

Swedish automotive magazine, Vi Bilägare, recently undertook a test of eight 225/45 R17 summer tyres, and confirmed the Maxxis Premitra 5 HP5 summer tyre as the overall winner.

The test, which was conducted in Mireval, France, comprised wet handling, braking and cornering grip, curved and straight aquaplaning, dry handling and braking, fuel consumption, noise, comfort and rolling resistance.

According to Vi Bilägare, “it quickly became clear that the Maxxis Premitra HP5 tyre is here to be taken seriously.”

The dry road driving test, comprised of the average lap time of three laps, revealed that the Maxxis Premitra 5 had the fastest lap time of all tyres tested.

The aquaplaning test demonstrated a noticeable, positive difference between the aquaplaning safety of the Maxxis tyre compared to the other tyres tested. The Premitra 5 achieved 70.2 km/h before aquaplaning on a curve, while the next-best tyres in the test lost grip at 68.5 km/h or slower.

The Maxxis Premitra 5 HP5 is available in over 60 sizes ranging from 15 to 18 inches.
