ITIA withdraws from discussions on compliance scheme discussions
The Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) has withdrawn from discussions with the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government (DECLG) on the new compliance scheme for the tyre industry.
In a statement to TyreTrade.ie this afternoon the ITIA said:
The ITIA has withdrawn from discussions with the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government (DoEHLG) on the new compliance scheme for the tyre industry.
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) met today.
The NEC of the ITIA have always fully engaged positively in all committees and working groups in the setting up a new compliance scheme.
However, as a result of the most recent communications from the DoEHLG the NEC has decided to withdraw from all compliance scheme working groups with immediate effect.
The NEC felt that their concerns were not being addressed or listened to in any meaningful fashion.
The NEC remains committed to the introduction of a fit for purpose compliance scheme.
