Free tyre safety checks available during tyre safety month

A record number of garages and tyre retailers in the region are showing their support for October’s tyre safety month, which is organised by not-for-profit organisation TyreSafe, by offering free tyre safety checks to motorists.

The safety inspections are just one part of this year’s campaign which is trying to help drivers stay safe on the roads as we approach the wettest and most treacherous months of the year.

“It’s often said that the best things in life are free, and these important safety checks really are a great example of this,” said Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe.

“We’ve devised a number of ways to help people to check their own tyres, but there really is no substitute for having a qualified professional offer their expertise and make a significant contribution to helping make our roads a safer place.”

As part of the checks, tyres will be inspected to ensure they have adequate tread depth to make them safe and legal, are inflated to the correct and are free from any cuts, lumps or bulges which may indicate internal damage.
