Auto Bild’s best 2022 summer tyres on the market

The 2022 Auto Bild Sportscars summer tyre test examined 11 brands in size 225/45 R18 and four as a mixed 225/45 (front) and 255/40 R18 (rear) fitment using a BMW 3 Series.

The publication concluded that the most “exemplary” summer tyres available to purchase currently are: the Michelin Pilot Sport 4; the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti+; the Falken Azenis FK 510; and the Toyo Proxes Sport A.

Bridgestone’s Potenza Sport and the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 were both rated “good”, while the Continental PremiumContact 6, Nexen N’Fera Sport and the Fulda SportControl 2 were deemed “satisfactory”.

The GT Radial SportActive 2 and the Tomket Sport 3 are “not recommendable”, however.

Meanwhile, Michelin’s Pilot 4 was the test winner in the mixed 225/45 – 255/40 R18, scoring “exemplary”.

The Vredestein Ultrac Vorti + was rated “good” while the Falken Azenis FK510 and Nexen N’Fera Sport scored “satisfactory” in this tyre size.
