Yokohama at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show

Yokohama Rubber is exhibiting at the Geneva International Motor Show. The company is using the opportunity to introduce the latest additions to its  premium passenger car tyre line-up.

Yokohama has announced the return of the A008P, one of the company’s landmark tyres. The new A008P will be available in two sizes—205/55ZR16 91W for front tyres and 245/45ZR16 94W for rear tyres. Sales in Europe are scheduled to begin in autumn 2017 with other regions to be considered.

The original A008Pnwas unveiled in 1989. After receiving Porsche’s technical certification, the tyre was installed as original equipment on the Porsche 911 type 964. The  A008P paved the way for Porsche’s steady use of Yokohama brand tyres, including today’s flagship tyre, the “ADVAN Sport V105”.

The A008P thus contributed to the spread of the Yokohama brand name around the world, making it one of the Company’s historically important products.

A prototype of the new A008P is on display at the Yokohama booth at the 87th Geneva Motor Show, which runs until Sunday, March 19 in Geneva, Switzerland. The booth features the new A008P on a 1989 Porsche 911 930 Turbo Cabriolet, made available by Porsche from its museum of classic Porsche models.

One of the main attractions on the Yokohama stand is its flagship “Advan Sport V105” tyre, which  has been adopted as original equipment on many of the world’s leading high-performance cars.

The  stand also features the “Geolandar A/T G015,” an all-terrain tyre for SUVs that was first introduced  in 2016, and the “ADVAN A052,” a street sports tyre. Yokohama says that the display of various types of tyres demonstrates its brand’s appeal as high-tech, high-performance tyres.

The stand also has a corner celebrating Yokohama’s partnership with the English Premier  League’s Chelsea Football Club. This corner features a “BluEarth-A AE50 CHELSEA FC EDITION,” a  special decorative tyre with the Chelsea FC logo on the tyre tread. Visitors, particular Chelsea fans are able to  have their pictures taken with “virtual” Chelsea FC players using a Yokohama Rubber–developed app  based on augmented reality.

With 2017 marking the 100th anniversary of the Company’s founding, the stand also helps visitors  understand Yokohama Rubber’s high technological capabilities and reputation as a reliable supplier  cultivated over its first 100 years. A movie commemorating Yokohama  Rubber’s first 100 years is also repeatedly running on their stand.
