Michelin introduces Energy Saver+ range

Michelin has introduced a new tyre range, Energy Saver +, that is designed to cut the amount of fuel a car uses.

The new range is calculated to reduce fuel consumption by 200 litres for every 45,000kms travelled compared with a tyre that meets the minimum performance level defined in new European tyre labelling regulations.

Added safety, wet grip and improved longevity are amongst its other features.

Modified by Michelin to optimise contact with the road, the tyre’s footprint has been increased by 10 percent while braking distance on wet roads has been reduced by 16 metres. To increase longevity, Michelin has modified the thread compound to strengthen its resistance to wear.
Available in 14, 15 and 16-inch versions, it is available in 58 sizes to accommodate the broad range of cars in the European market.

According to Michelin’s sales manager for Ireland, Tom Dennigan, Energy Saver+ is the first tyre made with their Eco and Grip patented rubber compound that limits heat generation and reduces the amount of energy absorbed by the tyre.

Meanwhile, the company has launched a new range of van tyres, Agilis+, designed to cut operating costs for van and light commercial vehicle users by delivering lower fuel consumption and greater mileage.

The new tyre is calculated to reduce fuel consumption by 270 litres for every 60,000kms travelled and shortens braking distance by more than 17 metres compared with a tyre that meets the minimum performance level defined in new European tyre labelling regulations.

“The Agilis+ has sidewall anti-scrape shields that protect it from damage when coming in contact with a kerb or pothole combined with eight anti-scrape patches that make it even more resistant to everyday wear and tear” Mr. Dennigan said.
