Goodyear truck tyres can save almost €1,000 per vehicle per year
Comparative tests run by Spanish haulier Marcotran show that on certain routes it can save almost €1,000 per vehicle per year by using Goodyear FUELMAX tyres, and the high mileage offered by KMAX tyres makes them more economical on other routes.

Marcotran is an international freight company operating about 700 trucks and 1,200 trailers, with routes varying from regional runs to the longest between Spain and Moscow. The fleet runs mainly Goodyear’s low rolling resistance FUELMAX truck tyres. However Marcotran was keen to discover the difference that using mileage-optimised Goodyear KMAX tyres would make. The challenge was to compare the savings in fuel with those in tyre costs in terms of mileage. The results clearly showed both Goodyear ranges help reduce the Total Cost of Ownership.
Estimated mileage for the KMAX tyres ranged between 240,000 kms for the drive tyres and 450,000 kms for the trailer tyres and for the FUELMAX tyres it was between 220,000 kms for the drive tyres and 350.000 kms for the trailer tyres. This meant that the possible savings for KMAX tyres in relation to mileage was €287.70 per year per vehicle compared with the FUELMAX tyre combination.
Fuel consumption with the FUELMAX tyres was 30.38 litres/100km and 31.58 for the KMAX combination, representing an annual saving in fuel cost of €1,252 with FUELMAX tyres compared to KMAX.
The conclusion was that by using FUELMAX, Marcotran could save a total of €964 per vehicle per year. However the impressive high mileage that the KMAX tyres gave showed that in applications where mileage is the main performance criteria this tyre could be a preferred choice.
