Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta Championship returns to Mondello
The highly successful Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta Championship has its fourth double header of the season this weekend at Mondello Park.
This will require four races as entry levels dictate that a qualifying race will be needed for each championship round.
Another new class for 2013 is the OPH GT Series which got off to a healthy start in June and is already looking at expanding for only its second event. The new series uses some novel race formats to attract drivers and this weekend’s offering will be a 25 minute one or two driver race where drivers can drive the full distance themselves or share with a second driver. To make things fair all cars must complete a timed pit stop even if they only have one driver.
The GT class will see a wide variety of machines compete over three different classes catering for near standard sports and saloon cars up to purpose built sports Racers. Cars from the defunct RT2000 and Porsche Open series will take part along with saloon cars no longer eligible for the ITCC and pure sports racers such as Lotuses and Ginettas.
Also on Sunday’s programme will be two races for Formula Vee and Ginetta Junior’s as well as a race each for the two Historic Racing classes, HRCA Historics and Future Classics. Racing kicks off at 11:55 and continues through till 17:00, stopping for lunch between 13:00 and 14:00.
