Continental Tyres and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) have announced a partnership that will see the German-based tyre manufacturer become an official partner of women’s soccer in Ireland.<\/p>\n

In addition to becoming the main supporter of Irish women’s soccer, Continental has been named as the title sponsor of the Women’s National League which will be rebranded as the Continental Tyres Women’s National League. T<\/p>\n

he company will also lend its name to the Continental Tyres Women’s FAI Cup, the Continental Tyres Women\u2019s Senior FAI Cup and the FAI’s Elite Camps that foster the development of emerging football talent.\u00a0 The Continental Tyres Women\u2019s National League new season kicks off on Sunday August 24.<\/p>\n

Guy Frobisher, Continental Tyres Marketing Director for Region North, said: “Continental has a long history of supporting football at every level from senior international through to club level and right down to grass roots and community football programmes, so we are delighted to extend that support to Ireland by becoming the official partner of women’s football here”.<\/p>\n

Continental Tyres has been an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro Championship and is the official partner of women’s football in England and title sponsor of the Continental Cup.<\/p>\n

“Just as in many countries across Europe, women’s football in Ireland is a booming strand of the sport and we are keen that our support will reach out to new players at the community level so as to encourage more young girls to get involved”, said Mr. Frobisher.<\/p>\n

Working with football and fitness experts, Continental has developed a free online coaching resource called ContiWarmUp (contiwarmup.com) that has already been endorsed by the FA in England and the company hopes to roll out the resource to coaches here in Ireland, in particular, those involved in women’s soccer.<\/p>\n

John Delaney, CEO of the Football Association of Ireland, welcomed the new partnership: \u201cWe are very happy to bring Continental Tryes on board as official sponsor of women\u2019s football in Ireland. Through the FAI\u2019s Women\u2019s Football Development plan, a lot of work has been done to grow participation numbers at all levels and that has paid real dividends.\u00a0 Continental Tyres has a strong track record of association with the women\u2019s game internationally and they will make excellent title sponsors of our National League and Cup competitions to help us bring the women\u2019s game forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Continental support for women’s football in Ireland will be underpinned by the strapline: \u201cGetting you to the game safely\u201d and, as a leading manufacturer of premium tyres, the company will be using the sponsorship to spread the word in relation to the importance of tyre safety: \u201ctyres are a car’s only contact with the road and we neglect them at our peril.\u201d<\/p>\n
