{"id":5536,"date":"2013-08-20T12:09:26","date_gmt":"2013-08-20T11:09:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=5536"},"modified":"2013-08-20T12:09:26","modified_gmt":"2013-08-20T11:09:26","slug":"new-michelin-pilot-super-sport-for-the-carrera-gt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/new-michelin-pilot-super-sport-for-the-carrera-gt\/5536","title":{"rendered":"New Michelin Pilot Super Sport for the Carrera GT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">Michelin has developed a new version of the Pilot Super Sport for the Porsche Carrera GT, which noticeably enhances the handling of the 1,270 versions of the super sports car built between 2003 and 2006.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5532 alignright\" alt=\"Pilot-Super-Sport-copy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Pilot-Super-Sport-copy.png\" width=\"250\" height=\"283\" \/>This new version of the Pilot Super Sport, which replaces the current Pilot Sport PS2 fitment, brings together 10 years of tyre development to give drivers of the Carrera GT noticeably improved handling, even faster lap times and a more harmonious driving experience overall.<\/p>\n<p>This tyre further highlights Michelin\u2019s commitment to Total Performance. This ethos means that the tyre offers high levels of performance in all areas without compromising on any others.<\/p>\n<p>The new tyre will also improve the stability of the Porsche model at its top speed of 330 km\/h, as well as its behaviour at high lateral acceleration speeds. This is all down to the new structure of the tyre, which features the Porsche specification \u2018N0\u2019 on the sidewalls.<\/p>\n<p>The tread compound of the Pilot Super Sport, which is manufactured on the same production line as Michelin\u2019s racing tyres, features \u2018Bi-Compound\u2019 technology. With this technology, different rubber compounds are used for the inside and outside of the tread area. This concept offers maximum grip on bends and very precise steering response.<\/p>\n<p>Internally, the tyre\u2019s casing belt is made from an especially durable mix of aramid fibres which are five-times lighter than steel but deliver the same tensile strength. In addition, Michelin\u2019s \u2018Variable Contact Patch 2.0\u2019 technology distributes the pressure evenly across the tyre, meaning as much of the tread as possible is always in contact with the road under any driving conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside optimised performance criteria, these tyres offer the cost-effective side-effect of increased mileage: compared to the previous tyre, mileage is up to 10 per cent higher on the road, and as much as 20 per cent higher when the tyres are used on tough race tracks.
