<\/p>\nContinental Tyres has partnered with content creator, Erika Crawte, in the production of a new educational video aimed at raising awareness of tyre safety and helping motorists – particularly younger drivers – make informed decisions when choosing tyres.<\/p>\n
In this collaboration, Tom Dennigan of Continental Tyres Ireland joins Crawte at the Modern Tyres outlet on the Naas Road in Dublin to explain the EU tyre label, outlining why it is an essential tool for motorists when selecting the right tyre for their driving needs.<\/p>\n

In the video, Dennigan explains that the label provides clear, standardised information on fuel efficiency, wet\u2011grip performance, and external noise levels, allowing motorists to compare tyres easily and choose the safest and most efficient option for their vehicle.<\/p>\n
Dennigan highlights that the EU tyre label was introduced to help consumers make better\u2011informed choices, stating: \u201cWhen you look at the EU tyre label, you\u2019re getting independent, reliable information on how a tyre performs in real\u2011world conditions. Whether it\u2019s braking on wet roads, reducing fuel consumption, or lowering road noise, the label empowers motorists to choose tyres that best match their priorities \u2013 be it safety, sustainability, or comfort.”<\/p>\n
Dennigan advises motorists to check other sources of reliable information on tyre performance and suitability: “In addition to the EU tyre label, independent tyre tests give motorists an unbiased picture of how different tyres actually perform – from braking and grip to fuel efficiency and longevity – helping drivers make safer, better\u2011value choices.<\/p>\n
“These tests are widely available through organisations such as automotive clubs, consumer magazines, and motoring websites, where drivers can easily compare results before buying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dennigan also emphasises that tyre choice is not just a matter of performance but of safety. He notes that tyres are the only point of contact between a vehicle and the road, and that choosing a tyre with strong wet\u2011grip performance can significantly reduce stopping distances in Ireland\u2019s frequently wet conditions.<\/p>\n
He adds that many motorists are unaware of the differences between tyre models and brands, and that the EU tyre label is designed to simplify this decision-making process.<\/p>\n
The video also includes a reminder about essential tyre\u2011safety practices. Dennigan advises motorists to regularly check tyre pressure, tread depth, and overall tyre condition, noting that under\u2011inflated or worn tyres can dramatically reduce safety and increase fuel consumption.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven the best\u2011rated tyre can\u2019t perform properly if it\u2019s not maintained.
