Continental has been selected as an original-equipment tye supplier for the new Smart #5, due in Ireland later this year.<\/p>\n

The largest Smart vehicle to date will be fitted with the Continental EcoContact 7 in sizes 255\/45 R20 and 255\/40 R21 as standard \u2013 for improved range and confident all-road capabilities.<\/p>\n

Both versions of the premium summer tyre are approved for speeds up to 240 km\/h and feature the XL marking for increased load capacity.<\/p>\n

The EcoContact 7 is an efficient tyre solution, combining low energy loss with high mileage. Inspired by the surface of a golf ball, the tyre is highly aerodynamic. Its specially designed sidewall, featuring the so-called aerodimple structure, reduces air turbulence behind the tyre. This means the vehicle uses less energy to keep moving.<\/p>\n

In addition, newly developed materials in the tyre carcass, inner layer and sidewall reduce internal friction and thus lower rolling resistance. The EcoContact 7 also benefits from an adapted rubber compound designed to enhance energy efficiency.<\/p>\n

The tyre also features Continental\u2018s newly developed silent pattern tread design, which reduces rolling noise, especially in urban traffic. It is precisely tuned to the frequencies typically occurring at speeds around 50 km\/h.<\/p>\n
