<\/p>\nRing Automotive has partnered with Tyre Safe and the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service in the UK to conduct tyre pressure and tyre tread depth checks, with concerning results.<\/p>\n
In West Yorkshire, the Fire and Rescue Service has been hosting regular car washes for a charitable donation, while Ring checks the tyres of the vehicles that come through.<\/p>\n
Out of two of the six events held so far, staff from Ring looked at nearly 80 cars, 38 of which didn\u2019t have any problems, however, the other 42 cars that were tested had issues regarding tread depth or the tyre\u2019s pressure, meaning that more than half of the vehicles that had undertaken tests were not up to safe or legal standards.<\/p>\n

Ring\u2019s marketing director, Henry Bisson, commented: \u201cThe results we found from the two events we\u2019ve attended so far are shocking, more than half of the cars we\u2019ve looked at did not have the correct tread depth or pressure, which means that reflecting these results countrywide, there are many vehicles on the roads that are dangerous without the driver being aware of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event is so important to be a part of, because drivers need to be more aware of the state of their tyres, and by us attending these events, showing them tyre inflators or tyre tread depth gauges, they can see how easy it is to do, and hopefully be more vigilant in checking their tyres.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is concerning that a lot of the tyres we checked have some sort of issue, but that\u2019s why we need to keep beating this drum and discussing the importance of tyre safety and the potential consequences of not looking after your vehicle, whether that\u2019s your lights, brakes, battery or tyres, in fact, every aspect of your car needs care and regular maintenance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also took the time during the events we\u2019ve attended so far to speak to the drivers of the vehicles to understand their stance on tyre safety and maintenance, which was helpful for everyone involved. We found that the drivers were receptive to the advice we gave and understood why we were discussing this topic with them, we were also able to speak to them about their opinion on car maintenance and what they do to their vehicle, so it\u2019s helpful information for us too.<\/p>\n
