2013 is set to be an exciting year at Continental Tyres and what better place than the CV Show to unveil a whole range of new products, including the company\u2019s first ever dedicated bus and coach tyres, the very latest ContiVanContact van tyres, and the new Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ContiPressureCheck. \u2028<\/p>\n
The new all-axle bus and coach tyres, Conti Coach, Conti CityPlus and Conti Urban are the first tyres to be introduced in the generation 3 range, marking the beginning of the most comprehensive product enhancement for truck and bus tyres in the over 140-year history of Continental Tyres.
\nWith each new generation 3 tyre designed to meet the challenges specific to its application, Conti Coach, designed for long distance coach operations, has been engineered to provide excellent rolling resistance, giving greater fuel economy as well as considerably higher mileage compared to its predecessor.<\/p>\n
The Conti CityPlus for regional or intercity applications has the addition of a thicker sidewall to protect the tyre from damage as well as enhanced wet braking capabilities throughout the life of the tyre provided by the new 3D tread structure. And finally the Conti Urban, for innercity use, not only benefits from a thicker sidewall but also an innovative tread compound designed expressly to combat the challenges of innercity roads such as continuous braking and acceleration. The Conti Urban Tyre also benefits from reduced rolling resistance.<\/p>\n
Continental is launching two new van tyres to the UK market in 2013. Firstly, the new generation ContiVanContact 100 tyre, the successor to the highly successful Vanco 2, has been engineered to provide users with even greater mileage capability, thanks to a flat contour and part silica compound.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the ContiVanContact 200 for car derived vans, boasts superior handling and braking capability thanks to new aqua grooves in the shoulder and sipes in the centre of the pattern which create a windscreen wiper effect. This greatly improves stopping distances especially in the wet.
\nAlso on display at the CV Show will be the new generation 3 Conti EcoPlus HT3 trailer tyre, successor to the HTL2+ tyre, which will be available in the UK later this year. The tyre, designed specifically for long distance work, has excellent rolling resistance properties which classify it as energy efficiency class A on the EU tyre label. From the tread through the belt design to the casing and bead, the engineers at Continental made sure the design and rubber compound for each of the generation 3 tyres is perfectly suited to its application.<\/p>\n
Finally the company will also be showcasing the exciting new TPMS system, ContiPressureCheck. Over 90 per cent of all tyre failures are preceded by slow leaks that cause gradual loss of tyre pressure. Identifying a failure early can not only prevent punctures, but also lower operating costs by warning of underinflated tyres, which can lead to higher rolling resistance and increased fuel consumption and carbon emissions.<\/p>\n
ContiPressureCheck is the only tyre pressure monitoring system to generate its pressure and temperature data by using a sensor mounted inside the tyre itself. This has the advantage of protecting the system from impact and means the sensors can measure temperature data directly in the tyre without obstructing tyre fitting. ContiPressureCheck is quick and simple to install and can also be added during later tyre changeovers.<\/p>\n
