We are very thankful to the Repak and Circol ELT teams for bestowing this honour on us,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33555\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33555\" style=\"width: 962px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-33555\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Continental-Tyres.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"962\" height=\"541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Continental-Tyres.png 1600w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Continental-Tyres-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Continental-Tyres-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Continental-Tyres-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Continental-Tyres-1536x864.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 962px) 100vw, 962px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33555\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bill Collins, CEO of Circol ELT (left), presents the Pakman Tyre Champion Award to Tom Dennigan of Continental Tyres Ireland.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In awarding the Tyre Champion title to Continental, the Pakman jury cited how, in the past year, the company has achieved top performance in the International Sustainability Rating, with Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) honouring their efforts in climate change mitigation for the fourth year in a row.<\/p>\n<p>Also instrumental in Continental\u2019s win was the fact that the company already consumes 55 per cent less water and 17 per cent less energy than the industry average per metric ton of tyres produced.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Collins, CEO of Circol ELT added: \u201cCongratulations to Continental Tyres on their Pakman Tyre Champion Award. Continental Tyre Group\u2019s continued support for the waste tyre management scheme Circol ELT yields really tangible benefits for climate, communities, and biodiversity. During 2021, the 2,600 members of Circol ELT have recovered and recycled some 3.8 million waste tyres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Continental Tyres Ireland prepared a detailed submission for the Pakman award that listed a range of sustainability-focussed initiatives which the company has implemented across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>A good example of these award-winning initiatives is the company\u2019s new ground-breaking ContiRe.Tex technology.\u00a0 This technology makes Continental the first tyre manufacturer in the world to launch volume production of recycled polyester yarn obtained from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles into passenger car tyres.<\/p>\n<p>Continental is a title sponsor of the all-electric Extreme E racing series, and for the second season of the Extreme E championship, which opened in February 2022, Continental has developed a tyre for participating vehicles which uses ContiRe.Tex.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, a third of the new tyre is now made from recycled and renewable raw materials, including silica obtained from the ashes of rice husks \u2013 a waste product from agriculture \u2013 alongside reprocessed steel and carbon black.<\/p>\n<p>The support vehicles for this year\u2019s Tour de France were also equipped exclusively with ContiRe.Tex tyres.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Continental Tyres has won the Tyre Champion award for 2022 at the recent Pakman Awards.
