{"id":28171,"date":"2020-10-19T22:08:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T21:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=28171"},"modified":"2020-10-21T16:48:59","modified_gmt":"2020-10-21T15:48:59","slug":"nct-service-to-continue-under-level-5-restrictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/nct-service-to-continue-under-level-5-restrictions\/28171","title":{"rendered":"NCT and other auto industry services to continue under Level 5 restrictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Car Testing (NCT) Service is to continue to operate during Level 5 restrictions, which come into effect from midnight Wednesday.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52102\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/NCT.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The NCT has been deemed an essential service and all centres will remain fully operational.<\/p>\n<p>Customers who are due to attend for a test have been advised of the safety protocols in place during Level 5 at testing centres.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, tests were suspended and some customers qualified for a four-month extension.<\/p>\n<p>The extension of NCT due dates applies only to vehicles with a test due date of March 28, 2020 or later.<\/p>\n<p>Most customers have been issued with a new test date and the service is advising people to check their new test date and present for the test.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Motor industry aftermarket services to remain open<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The government has also deemed the following motor related services as essential, and can remain operational during Level 5 restrictions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The supply, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (including mechanically propelled vehicles, industrial machinery and equipment) for essential services.<\/li>\n<li>Outlets providing for the repair and maintenance of mechanically propelled vehicles or bicycles and any related facilities (including tyre sales and repairs).<\/li>\n<li>The repair of mechanically propelled vehicles or the repair of bicycles and related facilities.<\/li>\n<li>The provision of land transport, including bus, rail and taxi services.<\/li>\n<li>The provision of a service for the rental or leasing of mechanically propelled vehicles or bicycles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other services<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Warehousing and support activities (including cargo-handling, postal and courier activities) for the transportation of goods.<\/li>\n<li>The control and critical maintenance of the transport infrastructure network (including roads).<\/li>\n<li>Fuel service stations and heating fuel providers.<\/li>\n<li>Driver Testing Services provided by the Road Safety Authority for the purposes of section 33 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) for people involved in the provision of essential services or essential retail outlets.<\/li>\n<li>Driving instruction provided by instructors on the Register of Approved Diving instructors, established under Part 3 of the Road Traffic (Driving Instructor Licensing) (No.2) Regulations 2009 (S.I.
