{"id":27708,"date":"2020-09-09T09:29:29","date_gmt":"2020-09-09T08:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=27708"},"modified":"2020-09-09T15:31:39","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T14:31:39","slug":"maxxis-demonstrates-annual-savings-from-all-season-tyres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/maxxis-demonstrates-annual-savings-from-all-season-tyres\/27708","title":{"rendered":"Maxxis demonstrates annual savings from all-season tyres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year, many drivers throughout Europe still switch from summer tyres to winter tyres and back again, in countries where winter tyres are a legal requirement, and in countries where there is no such legal rule.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Following the recent launch of its new Premitra All-Season AP3 tyre, Maxxis has done a few calculations to show the everyday driver what they might be missing.<\/p>\n<p>Typically, winter season begins in October and ends in March, keeping each set of tyres in use for around six months of each year. Before considering the cost of the tyres themselves, there are two problems with changing from summer to winter tyres, according to Maxxis.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, the tyres often have plenty of life on them when removed from the vehicle, which means they either need to be disposed of prematurely or stored for the season they are not in use.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, there is a fitting cost associated with every changeover.<\/p>\n<p>Based on Maxxis\u2019 research, the typical tyre storage cost offered by major tyre fitting chains is \u20ac8 per tyre per season, bringing the total storage cost of a set of tyres for one season to \u20ac32. Add the tyre fitting costs at approximately \u20ac15 per tyre, and the average driver is paying \u20ac32 for storage plus \u20ac60 to change the tyres each season.<\/p>\n<p>Before accounting for the cost of the tyres, each driver is paying \u2013 per year \u2013 \u20ac184 for tyre storage and fitting.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming the average consumer purchases a set of tyres for summer and a set of tyres for winter every year, and they choose an affordable-yet-premium brand, each tyre is likely to cost over \u20ac100, sometimes more for winter models. In that unfortunate year when both the summer and winter set of tyres need replacing, this is likely to cost over \u20ac400 per set, over \u20ac800 in total. Plus the storage and fitting costs.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27709\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27709\" style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27709\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-09-at-12.30.05-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"463\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-09-at-12.30.05-PM.png 474w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-09-at-12.30.05-PM-300x293.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27709\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Maxxis Premitra All-Season AP3<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Alternatively, drivers can opt for an all-season tyre such as the Maxxis Premitra All-Season AP3. This tyre features the legal 3PMSF marking to verify its safety in all weather conditions, making it legal to use all year round.<\/p>\n<p>The quality of this product has been recognised in two Auto Bild tests; the first rating the Premitra All-Season AP3 fourth out of a range of 31 tyres based on wet and dry stopping distances, with the Maxxis tyre taking the top spot for the shortest dry stopping distance.<\/p>\n<p>The second test, also conducted by German magazine Auto Bild, was more comprehensive, considering wet and dry braking, handling, aquaplaning, pass-by noise and more.
