{"id":24821,"date":"2019-10-10T16:51:21","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T15:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=24821"},"modified":"2019-10-10T16:51:21","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T15:51:21","slug":"michelin-to-close-truck-tyre-plant-in-france-with-619-job-losses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/michelin-to-close-truck-tyre-plant-in-france-with-619-job-losses\/24821","title":{"rendered":"Michelin to close truck tyre plant in France with 619 job losses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michelin has announced that its truck tyre plant in Roche-Sur-Yon, France is set to close next year.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Competition from Asia and a slowing auto economy are behind this decision. 619 employees will lose their jobs as Michelin struggles to be profitable.<\/p>\n<p>Michelin has promised to \u201csupport each of the 619 employees\u201d affected by the closure, and said it would offer every one a chance to remain in the company in France.<\/p>\n<p>The French tyre maker added that the 74 people who work at a factory in nearby Maine-et-Loiret, manufacturing rubber for the site in La Roche-sur-Yon, will also be affected.<\/p>\n<p>The \u20ac70m invested into the plant was unable to produce the expected results needed to save it.
