\nRobo-taxis of the future will be able to perform tire maintenance\u00a0themselves. The latest Continental tyre study for driverless taxis demonstrates how this will work.\u00a0Continental sensors built into the treads of tyres are already able to transmit information on tread\u00a0depth, possible damage and tyre temperature as well as the correct inflation pressure.<\/p>\n
In the future, the rims will also be fitted with air pumps that adjust the tyre pressure even while\u00a0driving. This new wheel and tyre concept is called Conti C.A.R.E. and is connected to the fleet\u00a0management system via the Internet. The benefit is that it can provide information in almost real time\u00a0and warn fleet managers of irregularities or noncompliance with standard conditions, saving repair\u00a0costs and reducing vehicle downtime.<\/p>\n
Electric axle drive<\/strong> Another highlight is the 48-volt high-power drive, which enables full hybrid vehicles based only on\u00a048-volt electric drive train to reach speeds of 80 to 90 km\/h on electric power only.<\/p>\n Short-range radar protects cyclists and pedestrians<\/strong> Autonomous driving<\/strong> Lifelong learning for cars<\/strong> Continental is set to showcase technologies for the safe, clean and connected mobility\u00a0of the future at the IAA 2019. \nContinental will showcase its new short-range\u00a0radar at the IAA 2019. The radar is able to detect other road users and obstacles with extremely high\u00a0precision. This allows cornering assistance systems to recognize danger earlier than before and warn\u00a0the driver faster, request emergency braking or automatically trigger emergency braking.<\/p>\n
\nIn collaboration with EasyMile, a manufacturer of driverless vehicles,\u00a0Continental will offer IAA visitors the chance to take a test drive in a robo-taxi.
