TyreSafe, the UK\u2019s charity dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of correct tyre\u00a0maintenance and the dangers of defective and illegal tyres, is asking those who have suffered as a result of a tyre-related incident and are willing to\u00a0share their story to participate in its new social media campaign: #ItHappenedToMe<\/p>\n

\nThose willing to participate can share their stories with TyreSafe across its social media channels\u00a0(@TyreSafe on Twitter and TyreSafeUK on Facebook), where they are encouraged to use the\u00a0#ItHappenedToMe hashtag. Motorists are asked to share all tyre-related stories, such as the\u00a0inconvenience of discovering a puncture before setting off to an important event, discovering they\u00a0don\u2019t have a usable spare wheel after a puncture or a more serious incident.<\/p>\n
Stuart Jackson, TyreSafe chairman, said: \u201cThe personal stories of those involved in tyre-related\u00a0incidents were a powerful motivation for those who came together to form TyreSafe ten years ago\u00a0and for all who have worked with the charity since. It\u2019s all too easy to lose sight of the fact that\u00a0behind casualty and breakdown statistics there are often traumatic experiences affecting not only\u00a0the lives of drivers but also everyone involved including other road users, families, friends and the\u00a0attending emergency service officers. We must remember, one person suffering as a result of an\u00a0avoidable incident is one too many.<\/p>\n
