{"id":16145,"date":"2017-01-12T13:59:23","date_gmt":"2017-01-12T12:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=16145"},"modified":"2017-01-12T13:59:24","modified_gmt":"2017-01-12T12:59:24","slug":"tohill-and-fia-title-winning-touring-car-reunited-for-autosport-international-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/tohill-and-fia-title-winning-touring-car-reunited-for-autosport-international-show\/16145","title":{"rendered":"Tohill and FIA title winning Touring Car reunited for Autosport International\u00a0Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two-time FIA European Rallycross Touring Car Champion Derek Tohill will be reunited with the Ford Fiesta\u00a0that he raced to a brace of European crowns this weekend, as car and driver perform to a packed audience at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham (January 12 &#8211; 15).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Tohill-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-29510\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe 2016 Irish Rallycross Champion will drive the rear-wheel drive Fiesta in the Live Action Arena as part of a celebration of the 50th anniversary of rallycross, along with a plethora of iconic names from the history of the sport, including the most successful British and Irish Rallycross Championship racer ever, Dermot Carnegie, in a Ford Fiesta Supercar.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTohill graduated from the Irish scene with multiple Stock Hatch titles under his belt to the FIA European Rallycross championship in the Group N (Division 2) category in 2008, claiming his first victory in Poland. He took a sabbatical in 2009 while Ingvar Gunnarsson Motorsport built the rear-wheel drive Fiesta. Third place in its maiden outing in Portugal began the 2010 campaign well, and eight podiums, including wins in the UK, Belgium and Germany, paved the way for Tohill to secure the title in a final round decider in the Czech Republic, with a fourth victory.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Irish driver finished third and second overall in 2011 and 2012, before winning four rounds of the series in 2013 to secure the title for the second time at the penultimate round in Austria.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nNow a front-running Supercar racer in European and Irish rallycross, Tohill will be reunited with the PFCRX\u00a0TouringCar Fiesta for the indoor performance, where over 30,000 people are expected to see the action over the four days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two-time FIA European Rallycross Touring Car Champion Derek Tohill will be reunited with the Ford Fiesta\u00a0that he raced to a brace of European crowns this weekend, as car and driver perform to a packed audience at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham (January 12 &#8211;
