{"id":1554,"date":"2012-08-30T11:51:37","date_gmt":"2012-08-30T10:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=1554"},"modified":"2012-08-30T11:51:37","modified_gmt":"2012-08-30T10:51:37","slug":"ntda-ni-goes-dancing-on-ice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/ntda-ni-goes-dancing-on-ice\/1554","title":{"rendered":"NTDA (NI) goes Dancing On Ice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Ireland region of the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) held a dramatic demonstration on Tuesday on the importance of fitting the right tyre when the weather turns wintry.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/trelleborg-supports-worlds-strongest-man\/1542\/ntda-ni\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1544\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1544\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"NTDA NI\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/NTDA-NI-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/NTDA-NI-.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/NTDA-NI--300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a>The demonstration was held on the ice rink at the Odyssey in Belfast, where two experienced motorsports drivers, drove cars \u2013 identical apart from the tyres \u2013 on the slippery surface.<\/p>\n<p>The first car was fitted with premium summer tyres, while the second was shod with winter tyres for greater grip and control.<\/p>\n<p>In another demonstration, both cars had the same brand of summer tyres fitted, but the tread depths were very different; one high, one low.<\/p>\n<p>Said NTDA Director Richard Edy: &#8220;It may seem strange to be thinking about winter tyres in August, but in a few months, temperatures will be falling and that&#8217;s when winter tyres come into their own. They are not just for snowy conditions but provide extra grip when the temperature is below 7\u00baC.
