{"id":14841,"date":"2016-07-01T12:19:38","date_gmt":"2016-07-01T11:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=14841"},"modified":"2016-07-01T16:38:16","modified_gmt":"2016-07-01T15:38:16","slug":"161-new-car-registrations-power-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/161-new-car-registrations-power-ahead\/14841","title":{"rendered":"161 new car registrations power ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New car registrations for the first six months of the year, are up 23 per cent (101,338) ahead on the same period last year (82,337) while the month of June saw an increase of 12 per cent (1,626) compared to June 2015 (1,448), statistics released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) reveal.<br \/>\nIn the business sector Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), are currently up 9 per cent (867) on June last year (799) and year to date are up 26 per cent (18,417) overall. While Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) registrations, have witnessed a decline of 29 per cent for the month of June (112) 2016 when compared to the same month last year (157), however registrations are up 42 per cent year to date.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-10018\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Alan-Nolan-SIMI-Director-General--200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Alan Nolan SIMI Director General\" width=\"143\" height=\"215\" \/>Commenting on the figures, SIMI Director General Alan Nolan<\/em><\/strong> said: \u201cAt the start of the year we predicted that this year\u2019s registration numbers should reach 150,000 for the first time since 2008 and these figurers keep us on track to deliver that. From today of course the focus turns to the 162 registration period.
