{"id":14773,"date":"2016-06-24T17:02:32","date_gmt":"2016-06-24T16:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=14773"},"modified":"2016-06-24T17:02:32","modified_gmt":"2016-06-24T16:02:32","slug":"british-independent-auto-aftermarket-hopes-for-stability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/british-independent-auto-aftermarket-hopes-for-stability\/14773","title":{"rendered":"British independent auto aftermarket hopes for stability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British people have voted to leave the European Union following the EU referendum last\u00a0night.<\/p>\n<p>The result has caused an immediate reaction both in Europe and the markets, and the\u00a0government must now work quickly to ensure economic stability over the coming weeks and\u00a0months as part of the UK\u2019s political and economic negotiations with the EU.<\/p>\n<p>Wendy Williamson, the chief executive officer of the Independent Automotive\u00a0Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) said:\u00a0\u201cWe do not envisage any immediate impact on the UK aftermarket and will continue to work\u00a0closely with our colleagues throughout Europe to see what this result means for the UK\u00a0independent aftermarket and the automotive industry as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter further exploration of this political restructure, we will analyse the affect it may have on\u00a0current legislation and keep all of our members updated with the latest information at every\u00a0opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the trade body for the UK automotive industry, reacted earlier to\u00a0today\u2019s result in the referendum on the UK\u2019s membership of the EU.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive,\u00a0said,\u201cThe British public has chosen a new future out of Europe. Government\u00a0must now maintain economic stability and secure a deal with the EU which safeguards UK automotive interests.\u00a0This includes securing tariff-free access to European and other global markets, ensuring we can recruit talent from\u00a0the EU and the rest of the world and making the UK the most competitive place in Europe for automotive\u00a0investment.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The British people have voted to leave the European Union following the EU referendum last\u00a0night.
