{"id":132,"date":"2012-06-14T16:00:39","date_gmt":"2012-06-14T16:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wordpress\/?p=132"},"modified":"2012-06-18T08:26:44","modified_gmt":"2012-06-18T08:26:44","slug":"michelin-goes-behind-the-scenes-at-le-mans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/michelin-goes-behind-the-scenes-at-le-mans\/132","title":{"rendered":"Michelin goes behind the scenes at Le Mans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michelin is providing a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes action that goes into each 24 Hours of Le Mans race.<\/p>\n<p>Michelin has produced an exclusive video that provides insight into what the Audi team experiences in the run up to, during and after the iconic race, which takes place over the weekend of the 16-17 June.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In the video \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/Lz32Vv \" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/Lz32Vv <\/a>\u2013 Audi race engineer Kyle Wilson-Clarke talks about the rigours the team face over the gruelling competition.<\/p>\n<p>While most people think of it as just a 24 hour race, Kyle outlines how the crews have to start very early in the morning to prepare for the 9am warm-up. Then the race doesn\u2019t start until three in the afternoon \u2013 meaning the crew has done a full day of work before the race is even underway.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIt\u2019s a long one for the car but it\u2019s a long one for the crew as well!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also in the video, Leena Gade, the race engineer for Audi\u2019s R18 TDI, talks about leading her team and the vital checks that must be undertaken for a successful race.<\/p>\n<p>The pressure that staff like Leena face is extraordinary. \u00a0As Audi motorsport director Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich sums it up: \u201cWhat we do in Le Mans is take a Formula One season and condense it into one weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michelin has also filmed an interview with Audi racing driver and two-time Le Mans winner Allan McNish, where he talks about the quirky driver superstitions they often adopt before a race: <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/LZuqtH\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/LZuqtH<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michelin is providing a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes action that goes into each 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
