{"id":1254,"date":"2012-08-09T14:28:13","date_gmt":"2012-08-09T13:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/?p=1254"},"modified":"2012-08-09T14:28:36","modified_gmt":"2012-08-09T13:28:36","slug":"maxxis-is-king-of-the-valleys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/maxxis-is-king-of-the-valleys\/1254","title":{"rendered":"Maxxis is King of the Valleys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maxxis is celebrating victory in King of the Valleys, a new 4&#215;4 endurance event that looks set to take the UK\u2019s off-road world by storm and become the country\u2019s \u2018toughest off-road racing challenge\u2019.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/index.php\/maxxis-is-king-of-the-valleys\/1254\/maxxis-rock-racing\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1256\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1256\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"Maxxis Rock Racing\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Maxxis-Rock-Racing-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Maxxis-Rock-Racing-.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Maxxis-Rock-Racing--300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMaxxis sponsored the inaugural event at Walters Arena, near Glyn Neath in South Wales (27-29 July), which was won by Team Acerni Racing from Italy on Maxxis Trepador competition tyres.<\/p>\n<p>King of the Valleys was organised by the Neil Whitford on behalf of the All Wheel Drive Club \u2013 the largest all-makes off road club in the UK with some 2,000 members \u2013 and supported by Ultra4 Racing, who organise the Griffin King of the Hammers event in California.\u00a0 The impressive<\/p>\n<p>34-strong entry list included many of the UK&#8217;s top off-road teams plus visitors from France, Italy and Malta, in vehicles ranging from \u2018Challenge\u2019 Land Rovers to custom-built buggies.\u00a0 Around a dozen of the teams were using Maxxis tyres.<\/p>\n<p>The event is a Challenge, one of the fastest growing forms of off-road motorsport, in which teams are pitted against tough natural obstacles and aim to reach key points on the course and collect proof that they have successfully made it through each stage.\u00a0 Over three days teams tackled more than 60 course miles, encompassing every type of terrain available at the 1,600 acre<\/p>\n<p>Walters Arena motorsports complex, and Team Acerni Racing dominated from the start, with driver Pier Acerni and co-driver Romeo Manzan setting fastest times on all but one of the four runs and the prologue section.<\/p>\n<p>The winners will now enjoy automatic entry into Griffin King of the Hammers 2013 \u2013 an event with which Maxxis already has a major association \u2013 while the organisers will also meet the costs of shipping their vehicle to California to compete.<\/p>\n<p>King of the Valleys organiser Neil Whitford added: \u201cOur inaugural off-road race has created a real buzz proving that, even with the limitations of land availability and access in the UK, it is possible to stage an event that compares with the most aspirational there is, and we\u2019d like to thank Maxxis for supporting us and helping to make it possible.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maxxis is celebrating victory in King of the Valleys, a new 4&#215;4 endurance event that looks set to take the UK\u2019s off-road world by storm and become the country\u2019s \u2018toughest off-road racing challenge\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":1255,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[798],"class_list":["post-1254","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-maxxis"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.5 -
