Westmeath.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12095\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12095\" style=\"width: 615px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12095\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Continental-kms4kids-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Maurice Fitzgerald with Clare Dunne wearing their cycling kits  sponsored by Continental \" width=\"615\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Continental-kms4kids-copy.jpg 615w, https:\/\/www.tyretrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Continental-kms4kids-copy-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12095\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maurice Fitzgerald with Clare Dunne wearing their cycling kits sponsored by Continental<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event is the brainchild of the Auto Trade Journal\u2019s Business Development Manager, Maurice Fitzgerald who is undertaking the 12-hour marathon cycle to raise funds for the two neonatal wards.<\/p>\n<p>The event has been backed by the four Captains of Ireland\u2019s Provincial teams: John Muldoon, Connacht, Kevin McLaughlin, Leinster, Denis Hurley, Munster and Paul Marshall Ulster.<\/p>\n<p>Maurice, whose sister Anita gave birth to premature quadruplet boys, in the Rotunda Hospital in February explains how the fundraiser came about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn February 28, last my younger sister Anita gave birth to premature quadruplet boys, at 29 weeks, in The Rotunda Hospital. After several weeks of intensive neonatal care they were moved closer to home to the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cAs a way of showing our gratitude for looking after Anita and the boys, we decided to give something back through a charity cycling fundraiser called \u2018Kms4kids\u2019, to benefit the neonatal wards of both hospitals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kms4kids is a charity cycling event with a difference. It will run on Saturday, September 5 from 7am to 7pm in Rahugh, Co. Westmeath, on a 6km loop.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are invited to join at a time that suits them, complete as many laps as they wish at a pace that suits them. This event is suitable for all fitness levels from National School children to teenagers, families and leisure cyclists right up to endurance athletes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have being training for the past few months to attempt complete the full 12 hours. I invite anyone and everyone to join us on the day for what promises to be an enjoyable event for all. We have loads of stuff to give away including hotel breaks, bicycles, signed rugby jerseys and much more,\u201d added.<\/p>\n<p>Those who cannot make it can donate online through the MyCharity Page http:\/\/www.mycharity.ie\/event\/kms4kids_cycle_challenge\/<br \/>\nIf they include \u2018raffle\u2019 in the message section they are still in with a chance of winning some great prizes.
